The Italian Job is a Tiramisu Milkshake Stout. I’ll let that settle with you for a second. Tiramisu Milkshake Stout.
As ever the gimmick-hunter in me was in full swing when we ventured to Belfast’s main craft beer outlet (I’m not going to name them as that’s cheap – unlike their pricing. Seriously £7 or £8 for a tin?). They saw me coming a mile off – middle-aged, bearded and visibly salivating at the thought of some finely crafted cans.
I spotted this boi straight away and admittedly lost any reasoning power after discovering the word TIRAMASU on the tin.
Weighing in at 6% ABV this 440ml boi presents a luscious 32 IBU (Italian Bodaciousness Units). The stout pours dark with a roasted coffee smell.
Taste-wise this is simply just a fantastic Tiramisu in a can! The initial taste is light and smooth. The mid taste tells The Italian Job it’s time to begin. The flavour comes through upon exit and is rich and satisfying. The Stout end of this brew carries the entire package.
It’s deliciously smooth stuff. The carbonation is high but it also has a light mouth feel for a Stout. There’s a good amount of sweetness here. My tasting notes indicate “There’s a party in my mouth. And we’re serving up some Su!”. Under 1000 check-ins in Untappd at time of writing which excites me for reasons i don’t quite understand.
You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off.
