Majority K2 Soundbar (Review)

Soundbars used to be considered a luxury item with a high price tag, but the market has opened up in recent years to offer a variety of home audio alternatives. Today, we’ll take a look at Majority Audio’s K2 Soundbar and Subwoofer package.

Majority are a UK-based company specializing in affordable home audio and video products. The products are available exclusively through online retailers like Amazon and via their website. Majority also plant a tree for every device that it sells as part of its Majority Forest campaign as well as other projects that help support local communities.

The Majority K2 is really easy to set up right out of the box and it contains all of the connection options the soundbar supports, giving the user options on how they want to connect it. Connection options include Bluetooth, HDMI ARC, optical audio, and even RCA.

I opted for the standard 3.5mm audio jack connection out of the TV line out. Unfortunately for me the cable supplied was not long enough to reach the line out which was located on the opposite side of the TV. This was easily fixed with the use of a longer cable.

Two plug sockets are required for the Majority K2: one for the soundbar itself and one for the subwoofer. The great thing about this piece of kit is that there is no connecting wires between the two because they interact wirelessly. This gives a lot of options with regards to subwoofer placement.

I tested this setup with the Sony Bravia which, arguably has a fairly good speaker setup built-in. Upon hooking up the K2 system there was a notable improvement to sound quality above those built-in speakers.

The audio from the soundbar is sharp and clear. The K2 does an excellent job of simulating surround sound, giving you the impression that sound is coming from all directions rather than just in front of you.

The Majority K2 packs an absolute punch when it comes to output. There’s a huge sound from the main soundbar unit which delivers a good amount of bass, complemented by the subwoofer delivery.

The subwoofer gives off a good rumble adding a layer of dimension to the audio. It depends what you’re putting through it, but it won’t blow a hole in the floor bass-wise. The sound can be modeled slightly with the built-in EQ options however.

Both units are designed to look sleek and elegant and are created to complement your entertainment system’s backdrop. The whole package looks fantastic.

The Majority K2 soundbar is available in black or white colour options. We decided to go with the classic black option but the white option looks fantastically futuristic and stylish.

The Majority K2 soundbar has buttons on the side but also comes with a remote control featuring volume, EQ and display options. It features Bluetooth connectivity which enables the user to sync up their smartphone or other Bluetooth device.

The company also offers a free three year extended warranty covering repairs and replacements, if you register your device on the website. Majority also offers free technical support and advice for the lifetime of your product too.

The Majority K2 soundbar costs around £79.95, which sits it nicely in the “budget soundbar” price range. Given that reasonable price tag you get a lot of bang for your buck. Against its pricier competitors this soundbar is a definite contender.

I’m blown away by how good this system is! Its a powerful soundbar with a decent EQ range but more importantly it has an affordable price tag attached to it.

I’d say the Majority K2 is an ideal introduction into home audio. I’ve seen criticism that the subwoofer is weak for the size of the speaker but personally i’ve found it to be adequate. Whatever your preference, it’s a decent home audio system at a decent price.
