This beer compares 2 of my favourite things : Monty Python and …….. beer!
Cracking this one open the smell is wheaty, sweet and malty. It’s got a very typical Golden Ale smell to it but still inviting.
On the taste-side it delivers that sweet and malty flavour from the aroma, resting nicely in that typical Golden Ale style. A very traditional English Ale taste which is both pleasing and comforting. Its got a refreshingly crisp, slightly burnt/bitter aftertaste. It’s an enjoyable 4%.
I’ll admit to being a very simple human being. I love a gimmick and was sold on the label alone. What i got was a lovely well-rounded traditional ale. No giant feet from the sky. No dead parrots. No big dance numbers…
Holy Grail won’t change your life or call forth some sort of crusade but it is a decent sup nonetheless, especially after a long day.
Here’s the blurb:
Holy Grail was originally created to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Monty Python, and is a much-loved part of our bottled beer collection. Some 19 years on, The beer has been given a new lease of life with the recent reunion and the subsequent Spamalot tour.
Monty Python’s Holy Grail is a light golden beer with a fresh, zesty taste and a long crisp bitter finish. It’s brewed with a mixture of hops, including WGV, which gives the beer a light fruity nose. It’s a real tongue pleaser.
