It’s difficult for most people to get excited about link cables, but then again if you’re here reading this you’re not “most people”. Today we’re checking out an offering from the folks at Zyber VR. Come on you big nerds – lets look at this wire….
Product supplied by Zyber VR for review purposes
Users of VR often prefer not to be tethered by wires. The Quest 2 offers the advantage of being able to stream wirelessly from a PC, which can be convenient, however wireless connections can sometimes be unstable and may have latency issues. In these cases, a wired connection may be necessary for a smooth gaming experience. In steps Zyber VR…
Zyber VR is a virtual reality company that produces VR hardware and software. Their products are designed to provide users with an immersive and interactive VR experience, allowing them to interact with virtual environments in a way that feels natural and intuitive. (You can check out a company overview and our review of their Fitness Handles For Quest 2 here.)
The Zyber VR Link Cable boasts up to 20Gbps fast and stable transmission of data and power to the headset and a VR streaming speed up to 2000Mbps – which, any Lawnmower Man will tell you, is ideal.
The USB-A and USB-C connection plugs are cased in nickle-plated iron and feature gold-plated pins to maximize durability and data stability. The cable features an oxidized aluminium alloy shell which enables the green LED power indicator to light up during useage.
As with any decent VR -relarted cable or accessory, this product features a 90° port on the USB C end and a standard USB A shape on the other to allow for easy plugging and playing.
When the cable is in use, the LED indicator makes it easy to tell at a glance if your devices are connected and communicating. This can be especially useful when using the VR headset, as it can be difficult to tell if the headset is properly connected when it is on your head.
In addition, the Zyber VR USB-A to USB-C Link Cable is also designed for durability. The cable is made of high quality materials and is built to withstand the wear and tear of daily use. It is also resistant to bending and kinking, ensuring that it maintains a consistent and reliable connection between devices.
I had a smooth experience with the cable, with no errors or latency. While I don’t usually use a wired headset – the weight of the cable was not particularly noticeable and it did not feel excessively heavy or cumbersome. The cable can be routed around the back of the headset and secured allowing for more freedom of movement. Overall, the Zyber VR USB-A to USB-C Link Cable is a good choice for anyone in need of a reliable, long-distance connection between devices with different USB ports.
You can pick up the Zyber data cable from their website for around $16.99 (£14 GBP) by following this link
