The ProTubeVR Provolver haptic gun for VR is a prime example of a haptic device that provides an unparalleled level of haptic feedback, which significantly enhances the VR experience. Lets take a look…
Haptic
Haptic devices are a crucial aspect of modern VR technology as they enhance immersion, improve control, and increase realism. Haptic devices are an essential aspect of modern Virtual Reality technology, as they provide a more realistic and interactive experience. Haptic devices offer users the sense of touch, allowing them to feel the virtual world in a more tangible way.

ProVolver
The ProVolver provides realistic tactile feedback via the sensation of firing a gun, feeling the recoil, and even the sensation of reloading. The ProVolver haptic gun is designed to provide realistic feedback, which creates an immersive and lifelike experience for the user.
The Provolver has a physical trigger and buttons, which provides users with a more natural way to interact with virtual objects. This makes it easier to aim, fire, and navigate in the virtual world. The accessory can be customized to provide different types of feedback based on the virtual environment. This allows developers to create unique haptic experiences that enhance the realism and immersion of the virtual world.
The haptic pistol features a moving breech-lock to feel the recoil and realistic weight to reach the highest level of VR immersion. It can simulate the vibration and the feedback, with adapted effect for each weapon and firing mode (single shot, burst, full auto, or even laser), and even offers the user adaptability with the front-extension upgrade to turn it into a two-handed SMG.
The ProVolver is compatible cross-platform (Quest + PCVR) and allows the user to enjoy optimized integration in games like Onward, Pavlov, Sniper Elite, Contractors or Gun Club VR. This compatibility list is growing each day.

Conclusion
I was very impressed with this accessory but it was a long road to get there. I experienced the same frustration I had with the ProTube VR Pro Straps we reviewed previously – for the most part the consumer is left to their own devices (no pun intended). As with that product, no instructions are included and the user is asked to scan a QR code for directions.
This wouldn’t be so bad if the QR code led to specific instructions for use, however this leads to an unrelated web page with the PDFs at the bottom. The PDFs don’t include specific information for that product or even step by step guidance.
As much as I love it, the ProVolver is the exact opposite of a “plug and play” accessory in the terms of setup which required specific charging and connection via the app. However once the setup process is complete and the product is charged and registered, the product registers automatically with any compatible game and connects automatically once it is setup.
The options for PCVR compatibility are wider which could potentially put off base setup/standard Quest 2 users. I can attest to Cactus Cowboy 3 being a great option for the standard setup.
The shape and weight of the ProVolver add to make its use extremely immersive. Use is comfortable and feels natural. Outside of that the operation LEDs are hidden within the gun frame and can only be viewed from a certain angle. A basic tweak in the 3D printing to accommodate this could fix this issue.
Like I said, I love this accessory and these are vary basic criticisms which could easily be fixed with the most minor of efforts. If you want to take the immersion to the next level then this is essential kit!
You can pick up the haptic pistol from the ProTube site for around $299 (around £248 GBP)
